Just when you think we've completely OD'd on popular topics like the Corsair, and in many ways we have, this series comes along. Like the old In-Action series, but much better. Large photos - obviously - and scholarly information. This is one of those series you'll want to collect all of them. Good on the writers and publishers!

First Original research on the F4U Corsair in a long time.

First of all, in the interests of full disclosure I was a contributor to this book.

There are a lot of books written about the Corsair, but to my knowledge this is the only one dedicated solely to the first production model, the F4U-1, popularly known as the "Birdcage" Corsair.

Early F4Us are not as well understood as the later versions, but author Dana Bell was able to uncover and review original photographic imagery, as well as company documents and inter-governmental memoranda to compile this title. Dana's discoveries dispel several myths and misunderstandings which have been oft repeated in other Corsair texts.

Two significant parts that i contributed to, are the discussion of the evolutionary engineering changes made to the tail wheel assembly (which improved the ground handling and landing characteristics), and the evolution of the three/ four tone paint scheme over time; augmented by several never-before-published photos and supplemented by full colour profile illustrations.

As noted Naval Aviation historian Tommy Thomason said (in his tailhook topics blog), you will not find unit histories, biographical accounts, and slews of profile illustrations in this book; this is not an "In-Action" treatment. What this book does contain, is original research, and not a regurgitation of Corsair tidbits seem in countless other references.

If you are a serious student of the F4U Corsair, this book is a "Must Have" reference, especially for those interested in the early history of the programme. It also makes an excellent companion piece to anyone building the Tamiya F4U-1 Birdcage Corsair variants, which i have also reviewed.

The books are pretty heavy :) I absolutely love them because they're exactly what I was looking for. The information you get is precise. All the pictures are provided. Easy to navigate, easy to handle. Very informative. Not only will you get an info on the food, but the food groups are also organized in groups that treat certain illness. The third book is a book of recipes. I wish I knew about this book a long time ago! If your goal is to improve your health naturally, this book is for you.

Love this set of books! Purchased for myself about 5 years ago when I was a 24/7 caregiver for both of my aging parents and needed help with nutrition education and symptom issues. Just purchased a set for a friend. Books are extremely helpful with educating reader on issues like anemia, arthritis, diarrhea, etc. and what foods can help or hurt. Can use index to look up by symptom or food.

Large but not completely thrilling

A huge, weighty tome (sp?) of a book! Certainly feel u got your money's worth but not really enough photos and information about Sylvie. I was hoping for lots of action and studio shots and there are quite a few shots of 'guff' ie flowers etc. Also multiple translations in the book, which waste a bit of space (although not if you only speak Japanese, of course, then u would appreciate the translation!!)

Interesting but I'm not sure worth it in the end

This is an excellent study. We did this in our women's group and we all took a lot from it. We all have someone who makes us crazy and we all are crazy makers in our own right. The study gives you the tools to handle what comes at you with grace and understanding. Rick Warren's teachings make you feel like a brother or good friend is guiding you through the word of God in a simple and straight forward fashion.

Excellent study. Rick presents material in a humorous way and makes it stick. This study is good for anyone having any kind of relationship issues. I highly recommend this for small groups.
