About the Author
Wayne Johnson worked at the U.S. Army Aeromechanics Laboratory from 1970 to 1981 at the NASA Ames Research Center. He was with NASA from 1981 to 1986, including a couple of years as Assistant Branch Chief. Dr Johnson founded Johnson Aeronautics in 1986, under which he developed rotorcraft software until 1998. Since 1998, he has worked at the Aeromechanics Branch of NASA Ames Research Center. Dr Johnson is author of the comprehensive analysis CAMRADII and the rotorcraft design code NDARC; and of the book Helicopter Theory (1990). He is a Fellow of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and the American Helicopter Society (AHS) and has received a U.S. Army Commander's Award for Civilian Service, NASA Medals for Exceptional Engineering Achievement and Exceptional Technology Achievement, the AHS Grover E. Bell Award, the Ames H. Julian Allen Award, the AIAA Pendray Aerospace Literature Award and the 2010 AHS Alexander Nikolsky Honorary Lectureship.

Excelent Book for serious Rotorcraft Engineers and others

The book covers the entire area of Rotorcraft Aeromechanics which is very broad field of study, indeed. It takes one from the early days of and to 2012 aeromechanics. Wayne Johnson provides a significant amount of mathimatics to support his information. This could be off putting for those that are not current with their math, None-the-less, there is an enormous amount of information about so many subjects that it is an extremely valuable reference work. If the math puts you off, read between formulas and the lines and the information is there in clear plain language. It my seem expensive, but there is a lifetime of information in those pages. If your interested in the subject this book is gold mine and will return your investment many fold.

About the Author
Steven J. Ellman was Professor in the Graduate School of City University of New York (CUNY) where he was Director of the Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology. He is now Professor-Emeritus, after 30 years as a Professor at CUNY. He has published more than 70 papers in psychoanalysis, sleep and dreams the neurophysiology of motivation. He has published several books including Freud’s Technique Papers: A Contemporary Perspective and The Mind in Sleep (with Antrobus). He has been President of IPTAR twice, Program Chair and he is training and supervising analyst at IPTAR. He is also Clinical Professor at New York University Post-Doctoral Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. He was the first President of the Confederation of Independent Psychoanalytic Societies (CIPS). CIPS is the national professional organization of the independent International Psychoanalytic Association (IPA) societies of the United States. He is member of the IPA and was previously on the Executive Council of the IPA.

Perfect Continuation

Okay so, I loved how Gabriel's Hope seemed to run straight off from Rhyn's Redemption, No "One year later" etc.
At first this was a little hard to determine as the reader is thrown straight into Deidre's Life but it becomes apparent when Gabriel starts talking about everything that has/is going wrong in the underworld.
I loved the characters, Lizzy hasn't changed them much even though their situations have changed, she only begins to change the character after she explains the basis of change. The characters all say that Deidre is the complete opposite to past-death however I see alot of similarities, I also think past-death wasn't a complete b***h coming from the end of Rhyn's Redemption.
There were so many laugh at loud moments in this book for me, the one liners coming from all the characters are classic!and I especially had a giggle when Gabe found out who Deidre was!
The story line was easy to follow for me, but I believe it would be a bit difficult for someone who had not read the Rhyn Trilogy, and the suspense was great with the twists and turns and not having all the cards played and once.
I would suggest a probable 16+ audience for this because of language and situations, but apart from that a very enjoyable read and as always I cant wait for the next one :) Keep up the great work Lizzy :)

A Loving Death

First, I would really recommend reading Lizzy Ford's Rhyn trilogy before reading this book.. There are many references to previous story lines that can be confusing to readers unfamiliar with the characters.
Gabriel is the epitome of the unattainable man, tall, beautiful, aloof. Death. After we leave Rhyn and Kate; and find Gabriel, Rhyn's best friend and the savior of Kate, we find the Underworld in chaos. Gabriel, the newly appointed deity of Death is struggling with the mess his ex-girlfriend, past-death, has left him..a new job with no instruction manual.
Dodging Fate, a one night stand that turns into a forever mating, demon hunting, traitor ex lovers; this story is beyond entertaining. The love that Death unwittingly and unwillingly feels for the sweet Deidre, who is not all that she seems, is heart warming. I love Gabriel, he enchanted me from the moment I first read about him in the Rhyn Trilogy, his heart is as big as the ocean and as shattered as broken glass. Gabriel's Hope is a much deserved story for this character. Lizzy Ford writes characters who we love to love and love to hate and this story is full of both all the way to the end. I will say that I wish it was a longer story, I didn't want it to end; but Ms. Ford is excellent at cliffhangers and this one is a doozy. The sequel is one I highly anticipate reading.

WOW WOW WOW WOW!!!! This is the first book read by this author and I'm literally blown away. Feeling speechless and on edge from the fabulous ending that leaves you hanging for the next book!!! I am dying to know what is going to happen to Deidre!!!! I am definitely reading the other books that this author has put out. This book has become one of my favorites and looking forward to re-reading it again. I have fallen in love with the characters, especially Gabriel (who wouldn't) and Deidre. Gabriel embodies the dark mysterious handsome stranger to a T!!! Deidre is our independent and stubborn damsel trying her best to not rely on anyone but herself. The character's show so much passion and emotion that it is hard not to embrace them. There are many deals, betrayels, twists, and OMG moments. This is a have to -want to read!!! Story is amazing!!

Gabriel is the new DEATH and the past-Death dumped a big pile of crap on him before she left. Now Gabriel has to fix the underworld and doing so will help him become a better deity. One evening on a beach, Gabriel gets his world knocked out from under him. Will he rise up and meet the challenge or will he cower in the shadows? I give this book and amazing 5 star review!!!

Extremely useful biochemistry text. Yes, USEFUL!!

This book shows how biochemistry courses can be made interesting and pertinent. I love the clinical symptoms and diagnoses boxes. Various biochemical processes are made relevant by linking them to symptoms and diagnoses. Remember in college when biochemistry was essentially a memorization exercise? Not so here. I am not a doctor or med student but I do have 24 hours of bio and take it from me this is a unique biochemistry text. The layout and design of the contents is very good. Well worth the price and deserving of shelf space in your library.

A Cleverly Designed Book

Some biochemistry books proceed to describe metabolic pathways with scant reference to the physiological context in which they occur and then fill the conceptual gap by including a chapter on regulation and integration of metabolism. Not this thoughtful and cleverly designed book. From the start the authors make it clear that they are going to tell us the story in terms of one crucial unifying concept: which pathways are activated or inactivated when we eat or when we fast?
With this approach the reader never loses sight of the big picture, ie, what's going on in the body at any particular time. And then, when we do reach the chapter on integration of metabolism, most of the work has already been done for us: the chapter then operates as a useful review of what we have already been told.
The book does not miss any opportunity to make us think in terms of the big picture, and furthermore, it is never afraid of saying something more than once if it needs to. Just one example to illustrate this point: Lipoprotein lipase. Action and properties of this enzyme are detailed in the context of digestion of chylomicrons (p 497), storage of TAGs in adipocytes (p 512), integration of metabolism (p 561) and the influence of insulin levels on gene expression of the enzyme (p 564).
The early introduction of the fed and starved states is also useful in other ways. The student perceives right away what the point is of learning those endless metabolic pathways and studies them with much more enthusiasm and not just thinking that biochemistry is but an unnecessary obstacle they have to overcome to get to the more clinical stuff (at least I'd like to think so!). Inspired by this book I have organized my course in that way and I am convinced that it is the best approach.

Simple, Lucid, yet encylopedic

This book is different from its contemporaries in many ways. First of all is written in a clinical approach format which is very interesting for medical students. Most of the biochemistry textbooks are dry and vast and difficult to grasp the information needed for a medico.
But the Marks helps to learn to use biochemistry in the process of Clinical Problem Solving. With a lot of diagrams and clear text it is easy understand.
The Clinical Material is presented in the form of real patients.
It is a student friendly text with which you can learn biochemistry in a funny way of solving the clinical cases.
It can be used as a main textbook for self study.
I strongly recommend the Marks for all medical students.
